I have always wondered what exactly hope is. Is it a state of illusion? Is it a state of extreme optimism? Or is it just a state that is always a step behind reality?
Hope, in its truest sense, is a thread that connects dream and reality. It is a state that gives us a reason to live life fully – to enjoy every moment – to wake up everyday with a sense of belief that yes, there is something better in store for us. To quote from Shawshank Redemption,
“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
Everyone has some hope. But only a few of them actually manage to turn that hope into reality. What is that ingredient that turns hope into reality? I would say a couple of things. Hardwork being the foremost. Fortune not only favors the brave, but it also favors the diligent souls, the ones who fight the war with utmost dignity. Those valiant warriors. But then everyone works hard, and only a few succeed. Now comes the battle within those who work hard. Self belief comes into picture next. A strong belief that yes my hope is not superficial, it’s very much a possibility. And the third ingredient is blessings from the divine. This is one ingredient which is often overlooked or neglected. Blessings from the divine do not mean going to holy places regularly. It just means that having faith that whatever is best for you, shall happen for you! Know that there is always a strong power in the universe (and you may call that by any name) who is always there to take good care of you. Just having this belief makes one relaxed and at ease.
It’s difficult to turn our hopes into reality. Some make it. Others lose track midway. But when hope eventually turns into reality, it perhaps becomes one of our sweetest victories – sweet because it’s always fought mentally. Hope is a game where the attacker is also ourself, and the defender is also ourself.
Here’s hoping that everyone’s hope gets closer to reality in 2016!
